Packages and fees

One level of bookkeeping. Three levels of professional judgement.

The records are maintained every working day for every client. The packages differ in how much professional judgement sits on top. This page sets out what is included, what is not and how your fee is calculated.

    What every package includes

The foundation is identical in every package. Nobody gets a thinner version of the truth.

    • Bookkeeping processed each working day as information is received, so your records are current, not reconstructed at year end.
    • A live profit and loss, balance sheet, cash position, receivables, payables and director's loan account, presented securely in Financial IQ.
    • An estimated tax position that moves with your results: Corporation Tax for companies, Income Tax and Class 4 National Insurance with payments on account for sole traders and landlords.
    • A quarterly position check. Every quarter a named chartered accountant confirms your position is materially reliable: reconciliations complete, no material unresolved items and estimates on a sound basis.
    • Year-end review and the full compliance layer for your entity: annual accounts, Corporation Tax and confirmation statement for companies or MTD quarterly updates and the final declaration for unincorporated businesses.
    • One individual's salary-and-dividend Self Assessment.
    • Alerts when records need attention: disconnected feeds, missing information, unresolved items and approaching deadlines.
    • Access to Financial IQ and reactive support through our client portal.
    • Our filing promise. If HMRC or Companies House charge a late filing penalty because we were late, we pay it. It is written into your engagement letter.

Estimates are calculated by Financial IQ from your results to date. They are not forecasts and will be confirmed at your year-end review.

A worked example with illustrative figures. Every check states who performed it, when and the period covered.

    What changes between packages

The difference is professional work, not data. What changes is how often a chartered accountant signs an opinion on your figures and whether that opinion looks backward or forward.

    I · Awareness
    Know where you stand

The foundation, complete in itself. Professional involvement is the quarterly position check, your year-end and compliance work and anything that needs exception handling. No recurring commentary, no meetings.

    You drive
    • Everything in the common foundation
    • Quarterly position check by a named accountant
    • Reactive support when you ask
Not offered above £1m revenue or funding. At this size the position needs professional interpretation, not just maintenance. We support businesses over £1m on Insights and Foresight.
    III · Foresight
    Plan ahead with confidence

Everything in Insights, with the quarterly meeting replaced by a monthly one, plus forward planning led by a named finance lead. This is Finance Director support.

    Adds to Insights
    • 13-week rolling cash forecast, recalculated as records and assumptions change
    • 12-month profit and tax outlook, formally reviewed monthly
    • Monthly Finance Director's report, reviewed and signed by your finance lead
    • Monthly finance review meeting; decisions and actions recorded
    • One standard decision appraisal per month
Where Insights stops and Foresight begins. Monthly Insights is a professional opinion on completed results. It can tell you debtor days rose from 31 to 44 and which balances to chase. It will not model what happens if you hire in September; that is a planning question and it belongs in Foresight or a one-off decision appraisal, priced before we start. When your question crosses that line we say so and offer the right route. We never answer a planning question with an unpriced guess.

Monthly InsightsInsights and Foresight · June 2026

June closed at £9,140 profit on £41,220 revenue, £2,300 ahead of May. The improvement is explained by the Fenwick project completing without the subcontract costs May carried.

Debtor days rose from 31 to 44. £18,400 of receivables is now over 60 days old and three balances account for most of it. Chase these before the quarter end.

Based on results to date, set aside a further £4,200 for Corporation Tax.

These Insights are the professional opinion of the signing accountant based on the accounting records available at the date shown. This is not an audit or assurance engagement.

The signed monthly opinion. Software prepares the draft from verified figures. A chartered accountant reviews it, amends it and signs it. Nothing described as opinion is issued unreviewed.

    Finance Director's reportForesight · June 2026

Cash and headroom. £61,204 at bank; the 13-week forecast shows a low point of £38,900 in week 9, after the August VAT payment.

Outlook. The 12-month outlook holds at £96,000 profit before tax. One assumption changed this month: the July price increase is now confirmed in signed contracts.

Decision required. The van replacement. Appraisal attached; recommendation is to lease, reviewed against your capital allowances position.

    What is not included

Stated plainly, because a fair fee depends on both sides knowing where the service ends.

    Awareness and Insights
    • Budgets, forecasts and scenario modelling are not included. Insights looks only at completed results.
    • Decision modelling is not included; it is available as a priced one-off decision appraisal from any package.
    • Implementation of opportunities identified in Monthly Insights is separate work, agreed before it starts.
    • Specialist tax and transaction work is quoted separately.
    • Questions on the issued Insights are handled within a working allowance of two questions or 30 minutes a month; beyond that we will propose the right route.
    Foresight, unless separately agreed
    • Managing your internal finance staff.
    • Fundraising execution and investor relations.
    • Lender negotiation.
    • Legal advice, regulated investment advice and corporate finance advice.
    • Acquisitions, disposals, due diligence and restructuring.
    • Complex tax structuring and bespoke models outside the agreed planning work.

VAT, payroll and personal tax for additional individuals are compliance modules, priced separately at every level so that a package change never silently changes your filings. They are listed under separately priced services below.

    How the fee is calculated

Your fee has three parts and each is stated separately in your quote.

    • The maintained foundation, banded on the higher of your annual revenue or external funding raised. A funded business is priced on the work and capacity its funding creates, not on early sales.
    • An industry adjustment on the foundation only. Stock, cash takings, foreign currency and similar factors change the bookkeeping and accounts work, so sectors that carry them pay a modest loading. The professional layers are not industry-adjusted; a signed opinion and a meeting cost the same in any sector.
    • The professional layer you choose: the Insights or Foresight uplift, flat within each band.

Sole traders and landlords whose trade or property is their main business are full clients on the same ladder, with MTD quarterly updates and the final declaration as their compliance layer, priced below the company equivalent. We publish our method rather than a price list because the honest answer depends on your circumstances. The calculator below applies the same engine we use internally. Your indicative fee arrives by email and is confirmed, not re-scoped, on the call that follows.

    Compliance, alongside the package

These are shown separately at every level, so a package choice never quietly changes what's filed.

Full inclusions, boundaries and worked examples are set out in the three packages above.

Fees are monthly and exclusive of VAT. Annual items such as the registered office service and one-off fees such as an R&D claim are itemised separately in your quote.

    Separately priced services

Compliance modules are shown separately at every level, so a package change never implies your VAT, payroll or filings have changed. One-off work is priced before it starts.

    Engagement terms

    Our filing promise
    • If HMRC or Companies House charge a late filing penalty because we did not finish work we had agreed to do in time, we pay it. It is written into every engagement letter we issue.
    • It applies where you gave us the information we asked for by the date we set and approved anything we sent you within five working days.
    • It does not cover the tax itself, interest on tax paid late, periods before we acted for you or penalties caused by information that was late, incomplete or inaccurate. Where a penalty is ours, we appeal it for you and pay whatever is not cancelled.
    Term and notice
    • Foresight carries a six-month initial term, then three months' notice to step down. Forward planning only works with commitment on both sides.
    • Insights carries three months' downgrade notice. Upgrades take effect on the first of the next month. There is no proration and nothing changes until you have signed.
    • One-off services carry no term.
    If information doesn't arrive
    • Items we're waiting on are chased automatically at five and ten working days and reach a partner at fifteen.
    • Monthly Insights is issued with a stated qualification where the gap is immaterial and withheld with the reason shown where it is material. Withheld months resume when the information arrives; they do not accrue or refund. Fees continue during client-caused delay.
    • Two consecutive withheld months bring personal partner contact. Persistent failure is a breach of the engagement letter and may lead to re-scope or termination with notice.
    Your records are yours
    • If you leave, you receive your full report archive before anything is closed.
    • After a downgrade, everything already issued stays available, marked with its period, version, reviewer and the package it came from.
    • Every signed output names the person who signed it, the date and the period covered. We do not use permanent generic "reviewed" badges.

    What happens after a quote

Your indicative fee arrives by email

Itemised by package, compliance modules and annual items, with a short note on what each part includes.

A short call to confirm fit

The call checks we're right for each other. Your figure is confirmed there and is never re-scoped. Foresight engagements include a suitability review first, because a Finance Director relationship has to be right on both sides.

    The engagement letter names names

Your named accountant or named finance lead on Foresight is written into the engagement letter with the basis of our work, terms and notice periods.

We take over from your current accountant

Professional clearance, records transfer and authorities are handled by us. Your position is live in Financial IQ within the first weeks and your first quarterly check follows the schedule from day one.
